Draped bust of Balash to right, wearing an elaborate mural crown; before head, ‘hwkd wldʾš’ = ‘hukay Wardāš/Walāš’ (‘The good king, Balash’ in Pahlavi). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; head of Balash to right on the shaft; above altar, star and crescent; to left, Balash’s name in Pahlavi; to right, AY (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Göbl type I/1. SNS III/1, type Ib/1b. Some light deposits and with minor graffiti, otherwise, extremely fine.
